Rogers,Timilty, Queens and Kings of Middle School Hoop!

The 2013-14 Boston Public School Middle  Basketball Championships were held at Boston Latin Academy last Friday.
The Rogers Middle from Hyde Park defeated Young Achievers from Mattapan in the girl's final.
The Wildcats, led by the Serette sisters (6th grader Ashley and 8th grader Kiara) opened up a wide lead in the latter part of the 2nd half and never looked back. The Young Achievers Knights played very well in the first half and were led by Mataya Young and Mackenzie Daleba. Unfortunately, once Young fouled out early in the 2nd half the Knights couldn't match the firepower of the fast paced Wildcats.
The 2nd game featured two excellant boys squads. The Murphy School from the Neponset section of Dorchester, fresh off a victory in Wednesday's semi-final over the Irving Middle School, fought hard in a tough loss to Roxbury's Timilty School. The Timilty's Kjalil Blair led a well balanced and very talented Tigers squad and was named the games Most Valuable player.
Congratulations to all four schools, players and coaching staffs for putting together great basketball seasons.
Special thanks to BNN for recording and broadcasting this special event. It will surely be appreciated by all involved for years to come!
