New Mission Bounces Back,Throttles Reading

This game began in a quite unusual manner. A rarely enforced rule that prohibits dunking by any player during pregame warmups was enforced. New Mission was the culprit and their opponent ,Reading High was awarded two free throw attempts to start the game. The Reading player proceeded to make his first attempt and missed the second. In addition ,the ball was awarded to Reading to inbound rather than the traditional tipoff to begin the game.

That series of events was one of the rare occasions last night that New Mission allowed an uncontested shot as they harassed, intimidated, and totally overwhelmed (and seemed to have swatted away every layup attempt Reading made) Reading with smothering defense on their way to an easy victory at the Reggie Lewis Center.

New Mission, coming off of a Boston City League Tournament defeat last Friday to East Boston, excelled on both ends of the court and put the game out of reach by halftime.
The final score,New Mission 61,Reading 43. Congratulations to New Mission who advances to the second round of the Division 2 Miaa Basketball Tournament!
