On the gridiron Stephen's football background is just as impressive. At the Pop Warner level he played for the perrenial powerhouse Boston Raiders and helped them win back to back Central Mass. titles. As a junior at Dorchester High he started at quarterback and as a senior this past Fall was voted a team captain as well. This writer was fortunate enough to attend two of the Bears games including their manhandling of Charlestown High in which Stephen intercepted a pass and outran the entire Townie squad to the endzone for a 60 yard touchdown.
Having grown up in several Boston neighborhoods including Harbor Point,Roxbury, Mattapan, and Codman Square,Mr. Dorchester High (as this writer would describe him because of his passion for his school and communty) considers himself as a Dorchester kid. He has a tremendous amount of pride in his alma mater and has even created a FaceBook page devoted to it (Dorchester Bears).
Stephen's obvious leadership qualities in athletics have made him very popular in school as well as his community. That being said ,he's more than willing to share these words of advise for kids coming up after him:
Stephen Pryor: "I would say two things. One,make friends with as many good, genuine people as you possibly can because you never know what oppurtunities may come to you in the future. And second, be like a sponge. In life you are going to hear alot, but it's important to listen and soak up all the information like a sponge. With those two things you have two important neccesities in life, what you know and who you know".
Sonofcodmansquare.com salutes Stephen Pryor, and considers him the rule and not the exception!
